Dear Reader,

I’m Rebecca Calles Rijsdijk, a writer and activist who believes in the power of words to crack open systems, to spark fires in the hearts of those who dare to dream beyond what they’ve been given. This is a space for stories that don’t ask for permission, for poetry that challenges, for thoughts that refuse to fit neatly into boxes.

I founded Sunday Mornings at the River to create a home for voices that rattle the cage, inspired by the defiant rhythms of Langston Hughes and the fierce clarity of Rebecca Solnit. My work blends raw honesty with a refusal to look away from the world as it is — all while holding tightly to the vision of what it could be.

Here, you’ll find the seeds of a revolution — in poems, essays, and stories meant to ignite something in you. If you believe in the power of art to resist, to heal, to fight back, I hope you’ll stay a while. Subscribe, read, and join me in building something new out of the cracks of the old.
